Abstract
We have discussed the use of genetic algorithms in direct pattern synthesis with specified constraints on the dynamic range of excitations. GA has also been used as a powerful technique to improve the return loss characteristics over the desired bandwidth by introducing matching irises. These techniques are applicable to other array antenna designs.
