Abstract :
One-Bit Transform (1BT) and Two-Bit Transform (2BT) based block motion estimation (ME) schemes have been presented in the literature to reduce the computational complexity of motion estimation by making use of low bit-depth representations of video frames and hardware suitable matching. This paper demonstrates that the full potential of 2BT based motion estimation has not been exploited so far and that it is possible to increase motion estimation accuracy of 2BT based ME by taking advantage of the characteristics of 2BT.
