Abstract :
Electrodynamic characteristics of a loop antenna operated on the surface of an axially magnetized plasma column in a background isotropic medium are analyzed using the integral equation method and the approximate transmission line theory. Results given by the two methods are compared in the case where the plasma inside the column is resonant. Conditions have been determined under which the transmission line theory ensures reasonably accurate predictions for the antenna characteristics in this case.
