  • Abstract
This paper presents the fuzzy-PID controller model, which encodes different control strategies for use under different circumstances in a fuzzy rule-base. The fuzzy-PID controller is able to implement any PID controller with additional flexibility, and substantial opportunities for improved performance exist. Conditions which guarantee stability of a closed-loop system using the fuzzy-PID controller are provided. The new structure is implemented for several plants and demonstrates significant improvements in system performance.
