Abstract
A neural network application in the field of botany is presented. The backpropagation paradigm was chosen to distinguish different leaf-forms of the Opuntia species. This approach has been selected because of its merit in separating fuzzy data. Preliminary simulation results indicate that leaf identification by means of artificial neural networks can be achieved
