Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to describe a brushless DC motor control circuit based on the MC68332 microcontroller and its unique time processing unit or TPU. This timer has preprogrammed algorithms that are developed specifically for the brushless DC motor. The function of monitoring the shaft position and generating the necessary waveforms to drive the motor are automatically created by the time processor unit. The main central processor on the MC68332 can devote itself to calculating the control algorithm used to drive the motor instead of being concerned with reading data from external elements to find out the shaft position and then creating the appropriate response
