Abstract :
In a DC-based wind farm, only one DC-AC inverter can connect the whole wind farm to the AC grid. This relatively new wind farm topology is cost-effective since the number of three phase transformers and AC-DC converters can be reduced. In this study, the grid interfacing issue of small scale DC-based wind farm is presented where fuzzy logic controlled current controlled voltage source inverter (CC-VSI) is proposed to convert the DC-bus voltage to suitable AC grid voltage. Real wind speed data is used in the dynamic analysis to obtain realistic response. Besides this, the fault ride through analysis is also performed and the effectiveness of the proposed controller is demonstrated during network fault condition. Simulation has been done using laboratory standard power system package PSCAD/EMTDC.
