  • Abstract
This article reports on a finite element analysis assisted optimisation strategy for a moving iron, transverse flux, short stroke linear generator for free-piston Stirling engine applications. The optimisation goal is to maximise the power-to-weight ratio while maintaining preset power and efficiency levels. The topology and the implementation of the optimisation strategy are described, followed by results for and a discussion of a 3 kW version.
