Abstract :
Results are obtained from high-speed photography, using a CCD camera, of the liquid-vapor interface instability. With further growth of field intensity, the liquid jets detach from the peaks of waves and move towards the opposite electrode. After a time, the surface of this electrode becomes covered with a thin layer of liquid and, in turn, the liquid jets move towards the first electrode. Dispersion of the liquid in this case is a movement from one electrode to the other and back. The conditions of jet disintegration into drops are defined. An analysis of liquid-vapor interface deformation is conducted with the purpose of determining the stable thickness of liquid film on the electrode surface
