Abstract :
To hold the developing trend of the virtual reality technology, and reflect major nations´ advances and influences on the state of the art, articles indexed by SCI-EXPANDED from 1997-2009 were studied by using of bibliometric analysis. The only keyword is virtual reality, and 2921 articles were analyzed. Some results had been presented in this paper. First, the amount of papers about virtual reality in the world is steady growth within the last decade, and the papers contributed by China is significant in recent years; second, the computer science and medicine are the main subject areas of virtual reality; the last one is that the citation peak period by year is 3-4 years after the paper was published.
