Abstract :
In today´s technological word, customer demands product to have good quality and continued functionality. It is known that the design defines the inherent product quality and then manufacture and management make quality embodied in product. Reliability is the time dependent dimension of product quality, which is positively correlated with customer confidence and profit margins. Therefore reliability can be regarded as a bond to link up the product´s development, manufacture, operation and support. This leads to the conception of Reliability-Centered Quality Management (RCQM), which focuses on the solution of latent quality problems through reliability. This article provides an overview of RCQM and some main influencing factors of the application of this quality concept. The frame and main management activities at every stage are introduced to construct the outline of RCQM. And then leadership, integrated product & process development and reliability standards system, which are the main influencing factors of RCQM application, are described in details.
