Abstract
Summary form only given. An input and output waveguide coupler is designed and built for use in Ka-band helix TWT (traveling wave tube). The characteristic of TWT is well known unique as its broad-band and high power CW operation. The feature of this coupler is a rigid waveguide type Chebyshev multisection transformer for matching between helix circuit and input output ports. We investigated the impedance of helix circuit and Chebyshev transformer at Ka-band frequency 25.5-31.5 GHz by the use of the HFSS. The designed coupler is fabricated and tested in our laboratory. Comparison of HFSS results and experiments is presented for the coupler S11 in bandwidth
