Abstract
This paper presents three methods for loss analysis of small three-phase cage induction motors under sinusoidal supply, i.e. experimental tests according to international standards, finite element-based computation, and analytical determination. Comparative loss analysis results are provided. The experimental test and the analytical determination lead to the same results for the motor energy efficiency, while using the finite-element field analysis only a part of motor losses can be evaluated.
