Abstract
The development of a submillimeter imaging radar is useful for applications in national security, planetary exploration, and biomedicine. However, the extension to a multi-pixel heterodyne system presents a large integration challenge at this frequency range. A partial solution suggested in this paper is a compromise between the single pixel and multi-pixel system. To our knowledge, the idea of multiplexing radar signals in time is new, and takes advantage of working in the submillimeterwave band, where the huge radar bandwidth and short wavelengths mean that sufficient delays for multiplexing can be implemented using compact quasi-optical components.
