Abstract :
A flexible DC link-global soft switch-full bridge inverter for metal halide (MH) lamps has been proposed in this paper. The main contributions of the paper are as follows: (1) a new DC link topology, using a buck converter as the DC link, is presented; (2) a ZCS-ZVS-PWM-buck converter is analyzed; and (3) a new control strategy for new inverter is developed. The results of the simulation and experiments (with an output power of 2.7 kW) provided in the paper show that the new inverter has many merits
