Abstract :
Summary form only given. In the article the synergy between GPS communications and power engineering is described and GPS and communication applications in the electric power industry are highlighted. Power engineers must extract new and novel ideas for future needs of real-time controls, making use of advanced system control theory, precision time keeping devices, supervisory functions and communication systems to squeeze more active power of transmission with higher reliability and optimum loading limits through an existing power system
