Abstract
A miniaturized wideband patch antenna loaded with artificial ground structure is proposed and presented. The antenna structure is composed with slot loaded patch with the optimized artificial ground structure called reactive impedance surface (RIS). By introducing RIS below the patch the size of antenna reduced by 23.52% and bandwidth is increased by 78.26% as compared to the simple patch. Total impedance bandwidth achieved for this antenna is 319MHz. The overall dimension of the antenna is 0.186λ0×0.186λ0×0.037λ0. This structure resonates at 2.8 GHz and at this frequency circular polarization is achieved. The proposed antenna is simulated and fabricated, results are compared and they are in good agreement.
