Abstract :
Infrastructureless mobile networking relies on an ad hoc wireless network capable of forming and deforming communication routes on-the-fly. This paper describes the experience of implementing a distributed, adaptive and long-lived routing protocol called ABR (associativity-based routing) (C-K Toh, International Phoenix Conference on Computers & Communications (IPCCC´96), pp.480-486, 1996; C-K Toh, Journal on Wireless Personal Communications, vol.4, no.2, March 1997), which is based on the concept of associativity. Our implementation revealed that the modifications required to an existing TCP/UDP/IP/Ethernet protocol stack to support infrastructureless networking were minimal. We have also revealed that the experimental results (delay, throughput, and packet loss) obtained are satisfactory and the protocol can support many existing applications transparently
