Abstract :
It is significant to understand the effect of slot skew on the performances of electrical machines, e.g. quality of voltage wave and fluctuation of electromagnetic torque. Since finite element simulations can make the analysis processes very time consuming and complicated, An analytical method for calculating the airgap inductances of windings in electrical machines with skewed rotor or stator slot is presented. The proposed method is base on the space harmonics analysis technology of airgap magnetic motive force and permeance. The validity is established by comparisons with the finite element method, and confirmed by the test on a synchronous machine with skew of stator by a stator slot pitch.
