Abstract
An advanced satellite communication system integrated into an integrated services digital network (ISDN) called dynamic channel assigning and routing satellite aided digital networks II (DYANETII) is described. DYANETII connects ISDN subscribers and carries overflow trunk traffic by satellite. It enables satellite subscribers to receive the same ISDN services as terrestrial subscribers in terms of numbering and billing systems as well as user-network interfaces. The development of advanced network control technologies makes it possible to set up satellite channels on a call-by-call basis for efficient utilization of satellite channels and establish single-hop connections for any type of connection. Compact Earth station equipment has been developed for customer´s premises use
