Abstract :
The evolution and pervasiveness of PCs as cost-effective computing platforms and with more powerful software tools, has resulted in a virtual explosion in data acquisition, signal processing and control systems from laboratory to industry including field applications. PC based instrumentation has given new dimensions to the field of measurement and control. Concept of virtual instrumentation (VI) is seen through the Advanced PC based instrumentation, exploration of virtual instrumentation architecture helps in better implementation of complex tasks of current challenges in automation. This paper presents detailed architecture of virtual instrumentation and explore the same through implementation of CAB Test automation, VoCODER, ECG and QAM tasks and LabVIEWreg have been used for programming purpose. The presented architecture is a generalized approach which can be adapted towards real time implementation of other industrial applications on VI platform.
