Abstract
A variational approach is presented which enables both to compute the discontinuity capacitance in coaxial structures and to state its frequency behaviour. The results compare favorably with the ones previously given in literature. Moreover, the method enables to consider structures having different dielectric permittivities at the sides of the discontinuity.
