Abstract
Recently, there have arisen several new methods of aperiodic antenna array design that are capable of very low sidelobe level performance over ultra-wide bandwidths. The linear polyfractal arrays yielding acceptable performance over many octaves of bandwidth. Similarly, wideband planar arrays are created and optimized based on aperiodic tilings. In this paper, the raised-power-series (RPS) method introduced here is based on a simple mathematical expression which is exploited as a means of constructing aperiodic linear arrays. A genetic algorithm is implemented to extract the best performance from the RPS array geometry.
