Abstract
This paper presents dynamic modeling and performance of a current-mode controlled boost DC-DC converter with slope compensation. The current-mode controller is based on average small signal models. The controller consists of two control loops; inner and outer control loops. The inner loop is a current loop controller with slope compensation to force the input current to track the reference current, which is determined by the output of voltage regulator. The outer loop is a PI controller that minimizes the steady state error between the output voltage of the converter and its reference. For validation, experimental results are provided to verify the superiority of the proposed current-mode based Boost converter under 50V/20A load.
