  • Abstract
The global health community has prioritised increased availability of vaccines to all the world´s children and this commitment has had the effect of placing additional stress on an already fragile cold chain and the equipment used to distribute and store vaccines. A significant problem associated with vaccine and immunisation programmes worldwide but more so in developing nations is the cold chain and the safe storage of vaccines. This problem is caused by the requirement to store vaccines in locations with poor and unreliable grid supplies.
