Abstract
An enhanced version of DS-code division multiple access (CDMA), called CDMA-IC, is proposed, which dramatically improves capacity. In this system, known information about the interference is utilized to improve the carrier-to-interference ratio of weaker signals. The basic idea is to detect signals in a nonincreasing signal strength order, and, during that process, to subtract the already detected signals. With the proposed scheme, a capacity of up to 40 times advanced mobile phone system (AMPS) is estimated. The necessary signal processing is explained, and results from simulations are shown
