Abstract :
Packet reservation multiple access (PRMA) performance is evaluated in terms of dropping probability when the transmission channel is subject to fading. A model is proposed for PRMA systems with channel fading by the Markov analysis method. The numerical analysis shows close agreement with computer simulation. For a particular example, when the header error rate is less than 1%, 37 speech terminals can share a PRMA system channel with 20 slots per frame, within the 1% packet dropping limit
