  • Abstract
    Here, an extension of the CMP (Calderon multiplicative preconditioner) concept to the Poggio-Miller-Chang-Harrington-Wu-Tsai (PMCHWT) integral equation is presented. This is done by writing the PMCHWT in a suitable matrix operator form and using that same matrix operator as a preconditioner. This results in an integral operator of the second kind, i.e. a compact perturbation of the identity operator. As in the EFIE case careful choice of the domains and ranges is essential in order to maintain the good spectral properties during discretization. However, this subject falls beyond the scope of this contribution.
