Abstract :
A bridgeless, two-inductor, interleaved Boost converter that possess voltage-doubler characteristic when it operates with a duty cycle greater than 0.5 for power factor pre-regulator is proposed in this paper. The conduction losses of the boost switches are reduced because at low line the converter operates in the voltage-doubler mode for almost the entire line period, which reduces the rms currents of the switches since the duty cycles of the switches in the proposed interleaved converter are larger compared to the duty cycles of the two conventionally interleaved converters. Another significant reduction in the conduction losses is achieved, since a minimum number of switching devices are involved in the circulating current path, and the proposed rectifier is suit for low line input and high power applications. Computer simulation and a prototype rated at 600 W, operating 50 kHz, with an input AC voltage of 90 Vrms and an output voltage of 400 Vdc has been implemented in the laboratory.
