Abstract
As networks and network-based applications increase in size, response time constraints and the needs for high data rates with minimum transmission delay require very high-speed communication links. This paper proposes a model which takes into account both transmission and propagation delays for evaluating the performance of high-speed computer networks. Numerical results show that the proposed model better reflects the behavior of such networks
