  • Abstract
This practical approach of implementing the third service as importance in the IEEE 802.21 standard for media independent handover (MIH) deals with several methods of implementation and comparison between them for different processing architectures. The IEEE 802.21 standard states two methods of implementing a Media Independent Service. Every of these two methods has advantages and disadvantages, explained and detailed in this paper, especially for embedded programming engineers. I simulated a media independent information service implementation under the two specified methods and extracted the main points of the transmission and their impact on the processing power required for each.
