Abstract
In this paper, a cooperative proxy cache system for wireless base stations is designed and implemented, based on a novel P2P cooperative caching scheme. Besides the proxy server architecture, other important implementation aspects, including system components, data search mechanism, caching strategy, and message routing protocols are discussed in details. To select a suitable cache replacement algorithm for the proposed wireless P2P cooperative cache system, three different cache replacement policies, LRU, LFU and SIZE, are evaluated using Web trace based performance studies on the implemented proxy cache system. The experimental results show that LRU is the best cache replacement policy for our wireless P2P cooperative proxy cache system.
