  • Abstract
    This paper dealt with the design and analysis of the outer rotor type interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) for an electric bicycle. To reduce cogging torque in IPMSM, we designed the optimal shapes of rotor core and magnet. Using the finite element method (FEM), performances of the proposed motor were analyzed and compared. The prototype motor was made for verifying the actual performance tests. Test results confirmed the feasibility of the proposed motor for use on an electric bicycle.
