Abstract
Wireless systems offering superior network performance with more capacity are required. Multi-channel systems have a potential of achieving these goals, unfortunately further investigations should be conducted to ascertain their full potential. A theory that correlates network performance to data channels and data flows is not available. This paper proposes a Cyclical Scheduling Algorithm (CSA) which phases data transmission. A system employing a dedicated channel with at least two data channels is implemented. Data channels are increased from two to fourteen and analytical means are employed to investigate the impact of data channels on network performance. The effect of data flows is examined through simulations. Analytical and simulation results show that network performance is not improved and that data flows do not degrade the system. An increase in data channels only scales up the network through aggregated capacity.
