Abstract :
This paper presents a PSPICE simulation and experimental investigation of an improved two-stage full-bridge switched mode DC power supply. The proposed improvement is at the level of zero voltage commutation and low switching spikes. To achieve these objectives, it is suggested to perform the DC-AC conversion using capacitors in parallel with an IGBT based full-bridge, and to perform the AC-DC conversion via an air-gap mid-point transformer and a two diode bridge. A prototype is analytically designed, built and tested in the laboratory. Simulation and experimental results are presented and commented
