Abstract
In this paper we study the performance of Nonblocking OVSF (NOVSF) codes that have been suggested in literature to increase the user chance to get a suitable channel in 3rd generation WCDMA mobile communication systems. Our analyses show that although the NOVSF codes could reduce the blocking problem arises in ordinary OVSF codes, but it increases the WCDMA bandwidth, and the cost and complexity of implementing the mobile station receivers. Instead we suggest to study an OVSF code tree with all codes are orthogonal to each other.
