Abstract
An improved direct torque control (DTC) scheme for the matrix converter fed interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) is presented in this paper. In the proposed scheme, the modified DTC strategy for matrix converter IPMSM drives is achieved using a variable-structure torque and stator flux controller, and indirect space vector modulation (ISVM) technique. It features low torque and flux ripples, sinusoidal input/output currents and unity fundamental displacement factor at the input regardless of the load power factor while maintaining constant switching frequency. Numerical simulations are carried out in both steady-state and transient conditions, verifying the effectiveness of this new proposed scheme
