Abstract :
In this paper, a methodology in developing a dynamic model for the pulp preparation in the head-box of paper machine is presented. The set of partial differential equations obtained from the mass balance is solved with respect of the boundary conditions in order to obtain the dynamic version of the model for control in the standard form of the state-space representation. A quantitative discussion on numerical control of multivariable systems with use the reference-model is also presented; it is illustrated how the internal model controller (IMC) can be designed and applied to multivariable systems. The application of the IMC to a head-box in pulp and paper industry is studied, and some simulation test results are presented and discussed in the numerical control manner
