Abstract :
The relationship between the frequency characteristics of 1-D low-pass filters and 2-D fan filters are introduced and used to develop explicit formulas for the design of fan filters. The method is very simple and efficient. For an arbitrary fan filter with given pass-band ripple, stop-band loss, and transition-band width, the filter´s coefficients can be easily obtained with a pocket calculator. The design of both Butterworth and elliptic function filters is discussed, and design examples are given. Very few multipliers are required to obtain a fan filter with excellent frequency behavior
