Abstract
An ultra low-power comparator which is able to operate at a very low supply voltage is proposed. The low power consumption is achieved by using a new switching scheme that turns off the comparator after the decision is made. The duration of the evaluation time, during which the comparator is on, is automatically adjusted to meet the requirements for different conditions. The proposed comparator is simulated in 0.18μm CMOS technology. The comparator consumes 12.71nW at a supply voltage of 0.5V and clock frequency of 2MHz.
