Abstract
The performance of a unified power flow controller (UPFC) with four different controllers is evaluated through simulation and implementation in an experimental laboratory model. The controllers which were investigated are the PI controller, PI controller with decoupling, cross-coupling controller and robust H∞ controller. It is found that the cross-coupling and robust H∞ controllers have the best performance when the exact value of the power transmission parameters are unknown
