Abstract :
The switching mechanism in PWM DC/DC power converters under charge-control is modeled by a three-terminal invariant switching structure called the charge-controlled PWM switch (QC-PWM). An equivalent circuit model of the QC-PWM switch is derived which, owing to its invariance, can be used to obtain the average large-signal and small-signal behavior of any two switched-state PWM power converter. This model, like the models of the PWM switch and the current-controlled PWM (CC-PWM) switch given earlier by the author, is self-contained, accurate and easy to use. The complete dynamics of a PWM power converter in charge control, including its subharmonic oscillation condition, are easily determined simply by replacing the QC-PWM switch with its equivalent circuit model
