Abstract
This paper investigated the reactive power increase when the cage rotor induction machine is connected to the utility system through the full rating VSC link system. The calculation using equivalent circuit indicates that the increase in the reactive power consumption may be suppressed by the decrease in the reactive power consumption of the secondary circuit. The combination of the cage rotor induction generator and the full rating converter link system is not more disadvantageous compared with the synchronous machine and the converter system. More investigation in detail is attractive
