  • Abstract
Ship electric power system is an independent electric power system, and is important in ships. At present, with the increasing tonnage of ships and more and more ships propelled by electric power, the capacity of generator in a marine power station is getting larger and larger. Because of electric propulsion technology applied by modern marines, the control system of voltage stability must be with better performance. The electric energy produced by diesel generators is not only transported to each load but also sent to marine propulsion device. The voltage of marine power system must be kept in reasonable range; otherwise it would affect the electrical system of marine greatly. In this paper, the definition of voltage stability and its state of study were first summarized, since in voltage stability, any element arouse the tension loses firmly, the load losing accompanies in it, establishing the suitable load model is the key step of voltage stability analysis. The analysis has been underway to the load model building problem in the ship power system. Then according to the problem in voltage stability index aspect, a new index which is quite easy to calculate and can be implemented for online use was proposed. The method does not need complicated matrix computation and other time-consuming calculations, so the solution can be expected to be faster
