  • Abstract
The US Navy is applying the processing graph method (PGM) to the Navy´s standard signal processors AN/UYS-1 and AN/UYS-2. The graphic entry workstation (GEWS) is a Macintosh-based workstation for developing signal processing application software for systems using the PGM. The GEWS captures a signal processing software via graphic entry and automatically generates the SPGN (signal processing graph notation) source code. The heart of this system is its ability to interface with a primitive library so that various parameters of the application software which would normally be explicitly provided by the programmers can be automatically generated based on the information specified in the primitive library. The ability to automatically generate many default parameters of a signal processing graph not only relieves the burden of manually providing this information from the user, but also reduces the opportunity of introducing errors by the user
