Abstract :
The hardware described represents a minimum-power solution to a transponder and companion base interrogator in a part of the RF spectrum where advantage can be taken of inherently low levels of man-made noise, wide channelling and potentially higher antenna efficiencies. Evaluations using the complete system have resulted in successful interrogations at operational ranges up to 13.5 m under indoor, idealised conditions using discone test antennas
