Abstract :
Measurement-based data systems will play a key role in the future of Earth Science as NASA transitions toward the generation of multi-mission climate data records. Measurement-based data systems are typically led by science investigators and science teams, and science questions drive their architecture, operations, and evolution over time. The general characteristics of measurement-based systems are described below, along with examples taken from scientific disciplines and near-term spaceflight missions.
