Abstract :
The compression of biomedical images and in particular of image sequences is an important tool not only when the reduction of the space on disk memory is required but also when the images have to be transmitted on a local area network. In all cases the compression must be realised without compromising the diagnostic contents. In this work dynamic echocardiographies were compressed with Indeo 3.2 and MPEG standard techniques to evaluate how the quality and the file dimension are modified and to determine which technique is most suitable for a sequence transmission
