  • Abstract
Statistical process control (SPC) is presented in a short-run environment and some background on SPC in general is examined. The steps used in preparing for and applying the SPC techniques in this environment are given. Three types of variables control charts for short production runs are considered: individuals-moving range charts, target charts, and target individuals-moving range charts. The three short-run charts discussed have different, general uses. The individuals moving range chart can be used to monitor a process where a few products are produced at a time. The target chart is used to plot the data from two or more products from the same process on the same chart. The target, individuals moving range chart is used to plot two or more products, from the same process, on the same chart, when there is limited data available
