  • Abstract
    Power factor and harmonics problem in industrial power systems with non-linear loads is presented. Traditional and modern advanced technologies for power factor improvement and harmonic mitigation are reviewed. Advantages of power electronics based static reactive power compensation (STATCOM) and active harmonic filtering are shown. Design issues for power electronics converter operating as STATCOM&active filter are discussed. Modeling and experiment results are presented for both advanced technologies
